I’m now one week into my new role at Equal Experts and realised I should capture some thoughts before they faded away with the jetlag...

Last week I did a whirlwind trip across the pond to visit our offices in London and Manchester. My primary outcome for the trip was to meet as many Engagement Managers as possible and absorb any sage advice they had for a newbie into the organisation. Whilst there was some great tips passed on, that isn’t what struck me. What really stood out to me was the quality of the people.

The Equal Experts model whilst unique, is ridiculously simple. We build a network of people that are outstanding at what they do, band them into great teams and then help customers solve curly problems. But the real difference is the quality of the ingredients - those people.

Netflix went viral in the corporate world a few years ago when they shared their HR guide on their culture and what made them successful. One of the values that stood out to me when I first read it was “Hire fully formed adults”. Here at Equal Experts, we have a similar ambition:

“Be a grown up”

And as far as I could tell, everyone I met lived up to that expectation. Despite how good they were, there was zero ego.

This is going to be fun (come join us!)

For organisations that want to grow and scale quickly, this can pose a conundrum.

"How do I find these people?"

"I can't grow at the rate I want if I have to limit myself to that small pool".

Whilst those are valid questions, we may be missing the point. Bad things happen when you try to grow and scale faster than you have good people for. Checkout those netflix slides mentioned earlier - particularly slides 49 - 60.

If you want to read more about the Equal Experts values, they can be found here.

Note: Due to recently accepting this role, I’ll primarily be using Sashimi Consulting as the umbrella for coaching, speaking and facilitation engagements. All Delivery advisory services will likely be run through Equal Experts, but let’s have a chat about what you need help with:
